Remote working has become the new norm when pandemic hit. It’s been on the world’s agenda to make everything more digitised thanks to the efforts of Silicon Valley in the last twenty years but the acceleration has never been so fast. According to the Office for National Statistics, 36% of working adults have worked from home in the past seven days.

So to check your home working setup, we created a list of things you might need to check, maybe once again:

Start with physical:

  • Is your actual desktop accessible by anyone else?
  • Do you keep your passwords written on a paper?
  • Do you keep printed sensitive information locked at all times?
  • Do you leave your computer unattended?

If you have answered yes to any of the questions below, you need to take further measures to mitigate future risk.

Information security at home

  • Start with your router
Change your password to a secure one and don’t forget to change it frequently and make the password unique!
  • Make privacy work for you
Keeping one work and one personal device will help you differentiate between sensitive work and personal information. Not logging into business services from your personal device or not paying for your shopping on your business device always have their benefits!
  • Stay updated
Make sure all your devices and software are up to date so they don’t have vulnerabilities. Make sure each device and software have their own passwords so you don’t compromise information you have on other services by some website you loggin gets compromised.
  • For further measures
Consider using a premium VPN that is approved and certified to be secure. Enable 2-factor authentication when you can.
